Project Alba
Our first green methanol plant. One module, built to repeat.
The Atlanteo module: renewable power, biogenic CO2 and green hydrogen combined into green methanol.
Project Alba is Atlanteo's first green methanol plant, located in Espírito Santo, Brazil. A cluster of four to five small run-of-river hydro plants, complemented by solar, powers a 20 MW pilot that splits water into green hydrogen and combines it with biogenic CO2 captured from agricultural residues in local biodigesters. The output is 10,000 tonnes of green methanol per year, a liquid fuel for aviation, shipping and the chemical industry that stores and ships like conventional fuel. Construction starts in 2027, full operation follows in 2030, when the first exports reach the European Union. German federal funding has received preliminary approval. Alba is not a megaproject. It is a module designed to repeat wherever renewable power and biomass meet.
